Overview
Born in 1981 in Westerville, Ohio, the youngest of the eight Malek children, Doug quickly demonstrated his hard-working qualities, finishing near the top of his class at Westerville North High School and St. Charles Preparatory School. After graduating from high school, Doug went on to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he excelled, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. Also in 2004, Doug married his college sweetheart, Minette Pretorius-Malek in an enchanting wedding held in Minette’s motherland, South Africa.
After returning from South Africa, Doug moved to Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He received a scholarship to Cleveland-Marshall College of Law (Cleveland State University) and graduated in 2007 with his Juris Doctor degree. While attending Cleveland-Marshall, Doug received the CALI AWARD in workers’ compensation, recognizing that he had received the highest score in the course.
Doug now focuses his practice almost exclusively on workers’ comp. Doug wants to ensure that the workers of Ohio will continue to be able to receive the compensation and medical benefits that they are entitled to through the workers’ compensation system. In his spare time, he enjoys playing with his young boys, Aidin and Malcolm, and relaxing with his wife at home or strolling in the park.
Doug has recently been nominated for by the National Trial Lawyers for Top 40 Under 40 Trial Attorneys for his excellent work litigating on behalf of injured workers.
